Event posting guidelines:
For events to be accepted to the Dance Dive calendar, they must pass a few simple criteria.
- First, the event must be a partner dance event. We have a list of partner dance styles on the event submission page, however we understand that we may have missed a few. If you don’t see the dance style for your event, please contact us.
- The event must be open to the general public. We do not list studio parties that require you to be a student of the studio to attend. We may on occasions make exceptions for events by non-profit and dance club organizations that require membership to attend. This will be determined on a case-by-case basis.
- The event must have real appeal to people interested in partner dancing. We don’t list nightclubs that are only looking to maximize their attendance.
- The event and the event listing must be rated PG. In other words, no foul or suggestive language in the listing. In addition, no inflammatory or insulting comments. Likewise, we don’t list “adult” events (regardless if they have dancing or not). Do we really need to say this on a dance site? I guess it’s better to be clear.
Really, it’s not that hard. In general, keep it clean and keep it about dancing.
The administrators of this site have final say on what events are approved and/or declined. The administrators also reserve the right to edit or remove events at any time to keep the site information accurate and inline with our event guidelines.
That being said, here are a few pointers to help you out:
- You may link to and embed images in your event listing. However, please keep the images to a reasonable size and file size. Images that are too large, meaning those that interfere with our site design and/or slow the site load time may result in the event not being approved or being edited by the administrator.
- Reoccurring events do require an end date. This isn’t to say your event won’t be successful and last a long time. However, it helps us to keep the site fresh and current. We ask that you reenter your event every six months to a year to make sure all the information is up to date. That being said, please set the end date to about six months to a year out.
- You don’t have to select a metro area. You are free to add events nationwide. However if you would like your metro area added, please contact us.
- Please select only dance styles that generally apply to your event. For example, if you have a Swing dance and people might do a Fox Trot on a rare occasion, there is no need to select Fox Trot as a dance style. Events that select all the dances styles are less likely to get approved and/or may be edited by the administrators.
- Please search for you event location before you enter it in. Chances are, it might already be in our database. Saves you work and it saves us work!
- Events with accurate contact info (especially a website) are more likely to get approved faster.
Event comments:
In general, we do not moderate event comments. However, we will review all comments marked as abuse. It will always be an administrator’s call on if a comment will be removed or not. In general, comments that are inflammatory, intended to insult or defame, contain foul or derogatory language, contain or link to illegal content, or are regarded as spam will not be tolerated and will be removed. Repeated violation may result in your OpenID being banned from the site. Again, the administrators of this site reserve the right to remove any comment at any time, for any reason.
